Stone Cold Trixxy – 2 Pet Strategy

This is the strategy I use to defeat Stone Cold Trixxy;  she is located here in Winterspring, Kalimdor, @ roughly 65,64 coordinates, southeast of Everlook along the road. With this strategy it is possible to boost a much lower level pet.

*This is simply a strategy I use to beat this tamer, I do not claim it “as my own” or as “original content”*

Pet and Ability Lineup:

Your Squad:

Level 25  Anubisath Idol with Crush, Stoneskin, and Deflection. (Humanoid)

Level 25 Clockwork Gnome with Metal Fist, Repair, and Build Turret. (Mechanical)

Leveling Pet (see below for some tips/notes)

Enemy Team:

Level 19 TinygosArcane Storm, Surge of Power, and Wild Magic. (Dragonkin)

Level 19 FrostmawClaw, Prowl, and Rake. (Beast)

Level 19 BlizzyQuills, Predatory Strike, Nocturnal Strike. (Flying)

The Action:

Trixxy will open with Tinygos, her Dragonkin. Cast Crush twice. Tinygos will randomly use one of his three abilities; it’s different every time. You should be able to kill Tinygos while taking minimal damage within 2 or 3 rounds. Trixxy then brings out Frostmaw, her Beast. Switch to your Clockwork Gnome for bonus damage and cast Build Turret, then Metal Fist until Frostmaw is dead. When Frostmaw dies, Trixxy brings out Blizzy the Owl, her Flying pet. This is where your leveling pet can be swapped in; after Blizzy performs his attack swap it to the backline and bring out whichever of the two 25 pets you prefer; either can finish off Blizzy easily.

More In-Depth Details:

The Anubisath Idol is obtained from killing the Twin Emperors in the the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj (AQ 40), or your local auction house if you prefer. This Humanoid pet is learned as rare and only comes in Breed#6, or H/H. It’s generally not extremely expensive if you can’t or do not want to farm it off of the bosses (TUJ has him around 2300-3600g on my low-med pop server). If you intend to do a lot of pet battles and pet dailies for the achievements and bags he’s pretty much essential to have. Of course it can be done without him but I must say that my experience and time spent improved drastically once I leveled this pet. He can even SOLO some of the Pandaria tamers!

The Clockwork Gnome is obtained via Dwarven Archaeology through the Archaeology profession; it is a rare artifact and requires 100 fragments to complete, with the option to use 3 Dwarf Rune Stones. This Mechanical pet is learned as rare and is only available in Breed#11 or S/B. If you do not have Archaeology or do not wish to level it, this pet can be caged and sold on the auction house. On my low-med population server, TUJ states a market price of 3000g. Your mileage may vary. Again, I consider this one of my staples of the stable; it is well worth the time spent or gold, whichever you choose, if you want to do a lot of pet battling.

Your leveling pet for this tamer should be at least level 5 in most cases. I have had limited success boosting a level 1 pet by anticipating the Prowl ability of Frostmaw, but he casts it unreliably, and as such it is only a good strategy if you want to keep restarting the battle or just get plain lucky. In this battle I place my leveling pet in the fight when Trixxy brings out her last pet, Blizzy. His attack will be, by and large, survivable by a pet of at least level 5. Take your hit and then switch your leveling pet to the backline and bring the Clockwork Gnome back out to finish the job.  As a special note, if you are interested in leveling a Mechanical pet, due to their self-resurrection racial, it can be as low as level 1. Simply take your hit, die, resurrect and pet swap to the higher level pet.
