The Celestial Tournament – Xu-Fu Strategy

Xu-Fu, the completely adorable cub of Xuen, appears in the Celestial Tournament as one of the final challengers to defeat before being declared the new champion.

*This strategy was originally seen in this guide. I have never made any claims that I created this strategy.*

Pet and Ability Lineup:

Your Squad:

Alpine Foxling Kit with Bite, Howl, and Dazzling Dance. (Beast)

Amethyst Spiderling (or any spider) with Strike, Brittle Webbing, and Spiderling Swarm (Beast)

Darkmoon Tonk with Missle, Shock and Awe and Ion Cannon. (Mechanical)

Enemy Team:

Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen with Spirit Claws, Moonfire, and Feed. (Beast)

The Action:

Lead off with your Alpine Foxling Kit (or other suitable pet) and cast Dazzling Dance. This will make all your pets faster than Xu-Fu for 9 rounds. On your second round, cast Bite to put a bit of damage on the enemy. Xu-Fu will put up Moonfire so his Spirit Claws are a guaranteed hit, and thereafter being spamming those Spirit Claws. Xu-Fu will do a ton of damage to you. Sometimes your Alpine Foxling Kit will die before he has the opportunity to cast Howl if Xu-Fu gets a lucky crit, but most times this has happened I have been able to win the fight regardless due to the strength of the remaining pets. Cast Howl on what should be your death round, and this will apply Shattered Defenses to Xu-Fu.

Bring our your Spider of choice and cast Brittle Webbing. Once your Brittle Webbing is up, cast your Spiderling Swarm. With the Howl buff up, the Spiderling Swarm should do devastating damage to Xu-Fu. He will attempt to heal by casting Feed on you to regain health, but it should not matter much. Strike until your spider breathes his last.

In comes your Darkmoon Tonk. Cast Shock and Awe, and then follow up with Ion Cannon. Always cast Shock and Awe first because Ion Cannon has a 2 round recovery penalty and you do not want to give Xu-Fu any more opportunities to Feed. Ion Cannon should finish off Xu-Fu for good.

More Details:

Any pet with the ability moveset including Dazzling Dance and Howl is suitable for the first slot in this encounter. All of the foxes and worgs have it and are easily obtainable.

Your second pet is also very easy to get; just capture and level any Spider in the Beast family. All of them have Brittle Webbing and Spiderling Swarm.

The Darkmoon Tonk performs very well in the third slot with two high damage abilities, Shock and Awe and Ion Cannon. The Darkmoon Tonk is available each month at the Darkmoon Faire for 90 Darkmoon Prize Tickets. It is also a rare drop from the Darkmoon Game Prize package that you receive when completing any of the “game” daily quests during the Faire, and of course as always on your local auction house. Darkmoon Tonk is learned as rare and only available in Breed#7, or H/P.
