Little Tommy Newcomer Strategy

This is the strategy I use to defeat Little Tommy Newcomer; he is a pet tamer located here on the Timeless Isle in the Celestial Courtyard, @ roughly 34,60 coordinates.

*Strategy from this guide. This is simply a strategy I use to beat this tamer, I do not claim it “as my own” or as “original content”*

Pet and Ability Lineup:

Your Squad:

Sunreaver Micro-Sentry with Fel ImmolateExtra Plating, and Call Lightning. (Mechanical)

Clockwork Gnome with Metal FistRepair, and Build Turret. (Mechanical)

Cogblade Raptor with Bite, Overtune, and Exposed Wounds. (Mechanical)

Enemy Team:

Lil’ Oondasta with Spiritfire Beam, Frill Blast, and Crush. (Beast)

The Action:

Your Sunreaver Micro-Sentry is up first. Cast Call Lightning. Lil’ Oondasta will immediately cast Frill Blast which will return your Sunreaver Micro-Sentry to the backline and bring out your highest HP pet, which in this case will be your Clockwork Gnome.

With Clockwork Gnome, use Build Turret as Lil’ Oondasta casts Spiritfire Beam doing damage to both you and your backline pets. The Build Turret ability is critical to this strategy in combination with Call Lightning. Your Sunreaver Micro-Sentry may die at at this point on the backline and use his mechanical self-resurrection ability. Use Metal Fist. Lil’ Oondasta will hit your Clockwork Gnome with big damage from Crush. You may die or come close to it this round; in any case, continue to use Metal Fist as often as possible and reapply your Build Turret as soon as it becomes available until your Clockwork Gnome has used his mechanical rez and died for good. Bring out your Sunreaver Micro-Sentry for one last hit with Fel Immolate; Lil’ Oondasta will finish him off this round.

Your final pet, the Cogblade Raptor need only cast one ability; Exposed Wounds. The combination of ticks from Exposed Wounds, Call Lightning, Fel Immolate and Build Turret will be too much for Lil’ Oondasta to withstand and he will buckle easily under the pressure.

More Details:

The use of three Mechanical type pets in this strategy is advantageous because 1) Call Lightning boosts damage from Mechanical abilities by 25%. 2) Lil’ Oondasta is a Beast and as such will take increased damage from all Mechanical abilities. 3) Mechanical pets take reduced damage from Lil’ Oondasta’s Magic attacks, so they are a bit sturdier.

Call Lightning is key to this strategy; Call Lightning will do damage every time on each attack. This counts for damage over time effects like our Sunreaver Micro-Sentry‘s Fel Immolate, and “multiple hit” abilities like Build Turret from the Clockwork Gnome and Expose Wounds from the Cogblade Raptor. You can use any pet with Call Lightning in this slot but a lot of strategies like to make use of the Sunreaver Micro-Sentry because it is easily obtainable and of course has the Fel Immolate damage over time ability augmented by Call Lightning. You can obtain a Sunreaver Micro-Sentry as a drop off of the rare elite Haywire Sunreaver Construct who is located patrolling here on the Isle of Thunder. The Sunreaver Micro-Sentry is also cageable and able to be sold on the auction house. TUJ lists Sunreaver Micro-Sentry at around 500g-600g on my low-med population server, so it is quite affordable. Sunreaver Micro-Sentry is learned as rare and is available exclusively in Breed#4, or P/P.

The Clockwork Gnome is obtained via Dwarven Archaeology through the Archaeology profession; it is a rare artifact and requires 100 fragments to complete, with the option to use 3 Dwarf Rune Stones. This Mechanical pet is learned as rare and is only available in Breed#11 or S/B. If you do not have Archaeology or do not wish to level it, this pet can be caged and sold on the auction house. On my low-med population server, TUJ states a market price of 3000g. Your mileage may vary. Again, I consider this one of my staples of the stable; it is well worth the time spent or gold, whichever you choose, if you want to do a lot of pet battling.

Any pet with Exposed wounds would work in your third slot, however I consider the Cogblade Raptor to be the best in this battle since he is the only mechanical pet with this ability, and mechanical pets take less damage from Lil’ Oondasta’s Magic attacks. The Cogblade Raptor is a wild catch from Blade’s Edge Mountains in Outland. He spawns (appropriately) in this area around Toshley’s Station and plateau overlooking Death’s Door. Cogblade Raptor can be captured in Breed#5, or S/S, Breed#11, or S/B, and Breed#3, or B/B. I used the Breed#3, or B/B version in this fight but any breed is suitable.
