The Celestial Tournament – Blingtron 4000 Strategy

Blingtron 4000, taking a break from his daily schedule of distributing G91 Landsharks,  appears in the Celestial Tournament as one of the random Champions of Pandaria. This is the strategy I use to defeat him.

*This strategy was originally seen in this guide. I have never made any claims that I created this strategy.*

Pet and Ability Lineup:

Your Squad:

Pandaren Water Spirit with Water Jet, Whirlpool, and Dive. (Elemental).

Core Hound Pup with Thrash, Howl, and Burrow. (Elemental).

Fel Flame with Burn, Immolate, and Conflagrate. (Elemental)

Enemy Team:

AuGilded Fist, Goldskin, and Gold Rush. (Elemental)

BanksMake It Rain, Uncanny Luck, and Buried Treasure. (Critter)

Lil’ B. – SMCKTHAT.EXE, Extra Plating, and Blingtron Gift Package. (Mechanical)

The Action:

You will open with your Pandaren Water Spirit, casting first. Blingtron opens with Au, another Elemental pet. You will first cast Whirlpool, and then Dive underground to avoid damage from Au’s Gold Rush. Next cast Water Jet as your Whirlpool hits Au. Keep casting Water Jet until Au dies.

Blingtron will bring out his Critter piggy, Banks. Cast Whirlpool on Banks. Return your Pandaren Water Spirit to the backline; his work here is done. Bring out your Core Hound Pup, and cast Howl. Whirlpool will go off around this time, dealing damage to Banks. Burrow on your next round as Banks continues to cast Make it Rain and attempt to heal via Buried Treasure. Your Burrow will hit with bonus damage plus apply Howl‘s Shattered Defenses debuff and should either kill or severely injure Banks by this round. If he is still alive, Thrash him once to finish him off. If he is dead, Blingtron will bring out Lil’ B, his Mechanical.

Howl should be immediately available to cast. Cast it and then switch your Core Hound Pup out for Fel Flame. Lil’ B will have Shattered Defenses applied from Howl. Cast Immolate, and then Conflagrate on the next round. Make sure Immolate stays debuffed on Lil’ B and cast Burn until Lil’ B dies.

The variables in this fight are chances to miss on Dives and Burrows. I have had it happen myself and have still been able to win. The most important thing to remember is to Howl and have Shattered Defenses up on Lil’ B before putting your Core Hound Pup away, it makes the last part of the battle trivial.

More Details:

Pandaren Water Spirit is an Elemental pet with Aquatic attacks, which makes him an ideal choice against another Elemental opponent, as Elemental pets take bonus damage from Aquatic abilities. You can obtain this pet via choosing it as your reward at the end of the initial Pandaren Spirit Tamers questline, obtaining it from the Pandaren Spirit Pet Supplies awarded by the Flowing Pandaren Spirit (each type of spirit element corresponds directly to the pet that has a chance to come in the bags; Flowing =  Water, Burning = Fire, Whispering = Air, Thundering = Earth), or on your local auction house.  TUJ lists them at around 900g on my low-medium population server. The Pandaren Water Spirit is learned as rare and is only available in Breed#9, or H/S.

Core Hound Pup is and Elemental pet obtained from applying an authenticator to any Battle.net account. You will receive him in the mail on your next login. If you don’t have an authenticator yet, try to get one, if not to protect your account but for this pet with a unique set of abilities! The Core Hound Pup is great in this fight due to the combination of his Beast abilities bonus damage against the Critter Banks, plus being able to apply Shattered Defenses with Howl and follow it up with an extremely hard hitting Burrow. The Core Hound Pup is learned as rare and is only available in Breed#7, or H/P.

Fel Flame is a wild catch Elemental pet from Shadowmoon Valley, around the Fel Pits in the center of the zone. The moveset and abilities of the Fel Flame are identical to that of two other pets, the Searing Scorchling and the Spirit of Summer.  This moveset coupled with Shattered Defenses will melt Lil’ B into a tiny puddle. Either of those pets can be slotted in easily to fill Fel Flame‘s role if you already have them leveled and do not want to chase after a rare Fel Flame. My focus here is on accessibility, so the wild pet will always win out in most of my strategies. Feel free to use any of these pets in your third slot against Lil’ B. Fel Flame can be captured in Breed#6, or H/H, Breed#7, or H/P, and Breed#9, or H/S.
